I am on too many meds. I got annoyed and asked to get them reduce it. I ended up with higher doses....
I am on lithium. Lamotrigine, sertraline, mirtzapine, lurasidone and olanzapine prn. Absolutely too much. Psychiatrist said that instead of taking heavy duty meds one takes many weaker meds so less side effects.

It does sound like too much!! I take less meds with high doses - Aripiprazole & Venlafaxine MR.

What's your diagnosis?
Do u have regular health checks?
I have yearly bloods & ECGs.

And this amount doesn't even keep me stable. I asked about this and was told that I am yet to reach recovery state. I got ill when I was 23, twenty years ago. How long it takes to reach recovery?!

I also have schizoaffective disorder mixed type. I do get breakthrough symptoms when I'm stressed and tired like having hallucinations, paranoia etc.

But as I have insight usually my psychiatrist doesn't want to increase the Aripiprazole as I'm nearly at the top dose.

Do you see a psychiatrist regularly? Can you ask to see a different team member?

My lurasidone was increased so that I wouldn't need to take olanzapine prn.

I don't see psychiatrist too often. If I get unwell I see a nurse who then discusses with psychiatrist. This leads usually to a med increase or new med.

I’m on a huge amount of meds too and I also hate it. I do understand why I do though.
Also, like you, they used to just increase or add in if I say anything. I have to remind myself it’s my choice what I take.
Can you have an appointment specifically to discuss any fears or concerns over medication you may have?
I had one recently and I had a really frank discussion which I found incredibly helpful.

I had an appointment on Thursday with psychiatrist. He explained stuff but it didn't really convince me. It just looks like they keep adding more and more. He even said that the max amounts of sertraline and lamotrigine arent really the max so we can increase them if needed....
