Been on many antidepressants none suited me till I went on mirtazapine, but as you may know they're an appetite stimulant and mess up the way your body processes carbs, so cause weight gain, it's a standing joke with me and my boyfriend about the "mirtazapine munchies" joking aside I've put on a stone in about 10 weeks and it's going up and up weekly, I like my fuller face as I look younger and my boobs are bigger which is cool, but I don't like my fat tummy, it's bloated, it sticks out like I'm pregnant and my clothes don't fit

And I'm relying on them to much for my sleep as I just want to go bed and not have to try and sleep, I want to be knocked out as I've had bad sleep for so long I can't do it anymore

I am up and down on my dose due to them not working on sleep some nights, but my last dose of 22.5mg was last night and I have thrown away my last packet and got some zopiclone to take while I come off mirtazapine

So now, in people's experience, how do I go about loosing the weight quickly?
will my carb cravings just stop now I'm not taking them?
I don't even want to think about the withdrawal as I've googled it all, been addicted to worse and seen it through, but still a bit worried about depression coming back

I'm just in the mindset that the longer I'm on them the worse the withdrawal would of been and the more weight I'd of put on

Any tips on weight loss and how long it took to loose weight is appreciated

I've put on a lot of weight since taking this too. But it helps . I'm on 45mgs. Perhaps go back to the gp if you are worried?

I recently stopped mirtzapine because I was fed up how many meds I need to take. I had a week of disturbed sleep but no other withdrawal effects. My appetite went down considerably. But my mood got lower again and psychiatrist told me to go back to it. Not happy.

I spoke to her on the phone yestersay, she's not heard of anyone putting weight on while taking mirtazapine, I'm not sure she believed I put on a stone and she also said to stop at 15mg without a taper she said they tell people to do it that way all the time

They make me so hungry it's crazy, I want to loose my fat tummy quickly as it is making feel disgusting being like this when I used to be so slim, I'm not even that big but I feel it compared to what I was before,
I read loads of people saying the weight gain is mainly on their tummy

I'd like to keep weight on my face, bum and boobs lol just get rid of this belly fat, I know it doesn't work like that though

I restarted mirtzapine yesterday and today I feel really hungry...

I felt really hungry during my 6 months on mirtazapine. The good news was after 2 months I stopped gaining weight (also left the job that had caused me to on mirtazapine in the first place, probably related). I never went above 15mg the sedating effect reduces as you increase the dose. I reduced to 7.5mg and still got a good night's sleep and wasn't so hungry before I stopped taking them completely

I've been on 45mg for years I really need willpower to keep the weight off or I just eat and eat it's not an option for me to come off them so I have to be strict or I gain rapidly I am hungry alot went low carb and that helped.

Bullshit! It's a VERY well-known side effect of that drug. I refused to use this drug as it's an appetite stimulant and I am already 2st overweight and diabetic with hypertension and they prescribed something else.
