Hi I have been on Seroxat for over 20 years, and would like to hear from people who have succeedingly weaned off of it or has cut down, I have been on 20mg for most of time but would like to cut down, I have heard it is almost impossible to do, I would love to hear from any one about this awful drug.

Hi, you have my sympathies. I was on this for 26 years, tried and failed many times to come off it, it's awful for withdrawal. I'm finally off it, stopped in April, only reason was cos I'm pregnant and was told by gp and midwife's that it's not safe in pregnancy, so I had to go cold turkey. Was horrendous, I had already been cutting down though for about a year, was down to 10mg every couple of days. Sorry I have no advice, the only thing that got me off it was being pregnant, but speak to your dr, it is hard, I thought I would never be off it but I am finally, so it is possible, good luck

LHMB thank you for your lovely message, I really do hope to come off it, but I always worry what I would be like, you done so well to come off it, I really take my hat off to you, I aim to cut to 10 mg then see what happen, all the best.

You're welcome, I know what a nightmare Seroxat is, it really is awful to come off, I wish you all the best and in time I'm sure you'll be free of it too, i struggled for years to come off it completely, heard terrible stories from others who had gone cold turkey, I really thought I had no chance after all those years on it, but if I could do it, honestly, anyone can

My mum managed to wean herself of it. She ever so slowly cut down and eventually took it no more. But l know she found the nausea, headaches etc very tough

I was on seroxat for about three years and managed to wean myself off of it successfully. Didn't have too much trouble and this was from 30mgs. I did it by cutting them up so was taking three quarters of a tablet for a while then down to half for a while etc. Sometimes I had to go back up but did manage it finally after about 4 months or so to come off completely. Take it gradually. Seroxat was a lifesaver for me and I wouldn't hesitate to take it again. Am currently on Prozac but preferred seroxat.
