And he thinks I have bipolar. I have to have some assessments and tests. I’ve been feeling really crappy since I saw him. Mind racing even more. I didn’t sleep last night, I keep crying and I don’t know how to feel

Hope you’re ok Kirsty. It can feel tiring to see a psychiatrist and have an assessment
How was the referral made?self referral or GP?
What’s your thoughts about the referral and diagnosis, did you feel able to adequately express yourself?
going forward are you being seen as out patient or allocated a worker for follow up?

Was it bipolar type one or two?,it's a lot to take in for you and you are probably trying to process it. However...now they have identified it,they can treat it and you will be on the way to feeling a hell of a lot better, you are bound to feel overwhelmed, these are positive steps

Did the psychiatrist prescribe medication and discuss Wellbeing, staying well
Medication can be v effective and titrated to your needs, and it’ll be monitored
Who’s supporting you Kirsty?

The referral was made by my GP on advice from occupational health. He hasn’t given me a definite diagnosis as wants to do assessments first - so no medication at present. I was on anti-depressants for what my GP thought was anxiety and depression, but they just made me worse. I’ve been off them for about 6 weeks.
The psychiatrist told me to be off work and not drive for the moment.
I have some good friends. My family are a bit rubbish. I’ve spent most of today with other people, trying to sleep as haven’t slept for 2 nights but just don’t feel tired.
