So I've been really struggling with not sleeping for about 5-6 weeks. I usually sleep well but I've had two instances of severe insomnia in the last 12 years one where I became v depressed. So I do have quite a bit of anxiety around sleep which can be kickstarted by circumstances.

Dr has prescribed metrazapine , 15,mg, it seemed to be working well for about a week and I was getting 6-7 hours of sleep though some days I felt groggy but not every day.

On Thursday night I took it as normal but couldn't get to sleep, probably had 2-3 hours in the end and last night was even worse.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and whether it can 'not work' on occasion. Mostly I've read people saying it's been hugely helpful and sorted their sleep out. Just feel v stuck as I really want it to work for me..

Do I continue with it? Anxiety feels a bit less that it has been recently... But I mainly need to sleep!!

15mg is the lowest dose, however there is evidence that the lower dose actually can create the most drowsiness, despite that being counter intuitive.

I tried several different doses, but found them all very effective in getting and staying asleep.

It might be worth talking to your GP about an increase in dose to maybe 30mg?

I started it about six weeks ago, for anxiety and sleep problems. It really helped at first, but now things are gong back to normal: I can’t fall asleep, I wake again in the early hours etc.
