Heya. I started sertraline Monday and I've not been feeling well at all, nauseous, diarrhoea, insomnia.. the lot.. not to mention, the suicidal thoughts are much worse. Is this normal in the beginning? Does it get better? What're your experiences with it?

Best to speak to your doctor OP Flowers

I had the first two, which passed, and in retrospect probably more intrusive thoughts, they didn't really go away I just ignored them.

I had the diarrhoea, vomiting and insomnia. Sadly that's all. It did nothing helpful for me at all.

I'm now weaning off of sertraline and onto mirtazapene instead.

As far as I'm aware it is normal in the beginning and should stop soon

I had the nausea but that was all. If it’s making you feel like this I would go back to the GP.

I started 50mg in December last year. The first few weeks were difficult, bad mood swings, headaches, nausea and awful nightmares. It took until March to settle and I felt a lot better. My life started to get stressful again and I upped the dose to 100mg in September and I'm still settling a bit but didn't have the side effects as bad this time.

Overall I've noticed a big difference in my anxiety, I still have anxiety attacks (having one now actually it's horrible so I'm on MN to talk to others and ground myself) but I can go out and about and I'm much more confident so stick at it for another couple of weeks but check in with your GP if it gets worse

I keep going on and off sertraline. At the beginning of each time I get the same symptoms as you described they usually go after around 2 weeks for me. They need to build in your system supposedly.
