I have been suffering from Hyperemesis since the beginning of my pregnancy (32 weeks now) and have used Ondansetron (Zofran) to control it so I don't vomit at all anymore. Today I was given Sertraline 25mg for 4 days and then I am to increase to 50mg. About 15 mins after taking it, I felt so groggy and strange I had to lay down. I fell into a deep sleep. Then when I woke up, I've had severe nausea. I've been breathing through the waves for hours desperate to not actually throw up. I am definitely going to vomit as it's just getting stronger. I took it about 7 hours ago. Is this normal? The effect is so powerful, it's made my strong anti sickness medicine not work?

My psychiatrist tried me on amitriptyline at first as you don't get nausea on it, but I was so sleepy and groggy I couldn't function at all which was bad.

So now I'm terrified of how long the nausea will last, throwing up and if I'm ever going to feel better mentally.

It is normal to feel extremely nauseous for the first few days, but thankfully for many people it does pass fairly quickly. It's horrible but it is worth persevering with, if you are still feeling awful past a few days then do go back; but they should (hopefully) help and it be worth it. Flowers

There's an ancient Sertraline Buddies thread, I found that helpful. I felt really sick and also like something was lodged in my throat, which provoked extreme anxiety, but it settled down after a few weeks xx

@Curtainly It makes me feel better to know that it's normal. I'll have to stick with it. I guess feeling nauseous for (hopefully) a few days is better than being depressed! Thank you.

@TripleSeptic I think it's:

It's actually really calming to see other people's experiences.

It will pass, hang on in there! I heard it can last two weeks so when I started I had it in my head that I only had 14 days to go. I don't think it even lasted that long and it was absolutely worth it! Thanks
