If you go to A&E for a mental health crisis will the GP get a letter saying what happened? And if so does the patient also get a copy?

In my experience no. I think they should but my local a and e have got me down as a time waster so they never write to my gp. If I get admitted they write on discharge.

The GP should be written to, yes, although it's done electronically now. You wouldn't receive a copy, although you can request to see it.

Mostly they don't especially if you self discharge. You won't get a copy if they do.

They will get a a&e letter yes but will just say briefly why you went and outcome, not much detail on though. I don't think you will get a copy but shouldn't be an issue requesting a copy from your GP once they have it.

I my trust if you get seen by a mental health professional in A&E they will write to your GP, and also put a copy of the letter on your notes. They wouldn't share a copy with you though.

They will receive a notification yes. You wouldn't normally be given a copy but could request to see it, however if it is believed that seeing it would cause harm then they can refuse.
