Has anyone paid privately to have a mental health assessment?

Keep thinking back to the 30 minutes I had with a psychiatric nurse today. Within 10 minutes she told me I do not have bpd, just an emotional regulation problem. I have researched a lot into this in the last few months and everything I've read feels like it's me. Also been open to the diagnoses of complex ptsd. From what I read online you cannot just diagnose this quickly and it can take a number of sessions. I feel she cut me off quickly and was quick to make a decision.

Just wondering if I paid privately to see someone if they would make more time? Any experience greatly received.

Could you refer yourself to health in mind OP?

@ellsisland what do you mean? I went a few weeks ago to start counselling sessions but at my initial appointment she said my needs were too complex and that we couldn't go ahead with counselling.

The lady yesterday said that once Ive done my CBT I could go on to do psychotherapy or schema? I just feel she didn't spend long enough getting to know my issues.

On the mind website it says if presenting with at least 5 of the 9 characteristics which I am.

The only thing she said was that I don't think you have bpd because you don't want to hurt people. She said because I'm doing very well in work, home(mortgage), show great care towards my DD and that basically I'm not presenting unwell enough as other people who she sees. I do believe I'm high functioning.

@Volluto that's great to hear. How did you find your private psychiatrist?

@SongLark12 you can refer yourself to Health in Mind and have a consultation with them. It's a free service so is worth a go!

@ellsisland I have been looking a lot and still confused. I don't think they are in my area. Also I cannot see where they provide consultations with a psychiatrist to diagnose problems.
