Anti-depressant reassurance - do I continue

I was prescribed 50mg of sertraline just under 6 weeks ago for depression and anxiety. A few nasty side effects for a few days which subsided quickly, apart from heightened anxiety for a while. By week 3 I felt really positive, lots of energy and very little intrusive thoughts. Fast forward to week 5 and the bad stuff returned again. Last week was beyond difficult - felt very down and on edge.

The way I felt on week three is yet to return, I am now also getting quite bad headaches and a bad stomach. Thinking to call GP in the morning anyway but just wondering if at this stage this is considered 'normal'? I guess I just feel disheartened because I expected to see some sort of improvement by now...

Sertraline didn’t agree with me. I had similar to you, after an initial improvement I slumped massively with huge side effects. I swapped to citalopram, which I’d had previously and suits me much better.

Do you mind me asking what side effects you had @daisydalrymple ? I'm just a bit confused because the ones I'm having now I didn't get to start with. Thanks x

I am the same. felt great by about week three but now two months in I feel low again and just totally irritated with everything and everyone. I have also had a bad stomach for weeks bordering on diarrhoea and don't know if it is the sertraline.

@babyroobs - same! I'm 100% not as emotional but the anger has vamped up. I'm just confused because my stomach was fine to begin with but now its so sensitive and I feel achy a lot.

I had dreadful leg twitching at night, mood swings and disturbed sleep as far as I can remember.
I only asked to go on it as was still bf and had read it was the least present in breast milk. Just couldn’t tolerate it though.
