I've been suffering horribly with postnatal anxiety and mild depression for the last year and really want to get myself out of it. I've seen a fair few people advocating trying or doing something new every day so I'm going to give it a try. I dont like change. I think it will be really hard for me but I need to do something now. Is anyone up for joining in? I'm aiming for a month first and then hopefully extend it if I see some positive benefits.

I think I'd be up for that. When you say trying or doing something new everyday can it be very small things?

HarryPotterFan436 · 02/10/2019 07:18

Yes really tiny things like walking a different way to work or having coffee first thing in the morning rather than tea if you like. Mine will be mostly small things. I think the idea is to just break you out of your comfort zone and even a tiny thing different each day can do that.

That’s a really good idea.

I thought so too when I read about it. I think breaking myself out of my comfort zone could be a really helpful thing for me to do and maybe for others as well.

Thinking about it I’m not sure I can manage a new thing every day, just because of time restrictions, but I can manage at least a couple a week.

Although maybe learning something new could also count?

WrongKindOfFace · 02/10/2019 08:28

Or reading a book I wouldn’t usually pick?

HarryPotterFan436 · 02/10/2019 08:48

I think its literally anything so some days I will have to do something really tiny due to time constraints. I dont even know if I'll manage every day but I'm going to try. I think even if you only manage a couple of times a week it's still doing the same job as if you were to do it every day.

This is my new thing for today. A book I've never read before. I hope it counts.
