Why am I alive?

I'm not going to do anything right now. But I don't know why I'm alive? I just don't see the point, except for being alive for the few people I have in my life. But I'm not alive for me, just for them. What's the point? It's my life and I don't want to do this anymore. I don't fit in. Not even sure why I'm on here, just wondering what's the point?

Please call the Samaritans, they will listen to you and be able to help. Sending love. Flowers

Flowers you matter and are important. Call the Samaritans or find someone in a real life to talk to as well as the support on here. You’ve got this, you’re strong and valued Flowers

I just don't see the point in trying to stay alive. I don't get why.

You have a contribution to make in this world you are clearly here for a reason

Gingernaut · 20/09/2019 12:14

Why are any of us alive?

The Darwinian approach is procreation of the species, but for many of us, making the world a slightly better place is a goal.

Samaritans, 111 or, if severe enough A&E

I’ll add one to Ginger’s procreation & contribution:
pleasure.

Has something happened or are you just feeling the weight of everything?

Why does there have to be a point?
Food is nice, so is napping, sometimes there something funny on the telly. Some people take life a little bit too seriously.

Perhaps you just need to get away from it all for a bit or speak to a gp about depression? Or maybe just get off social media if it makes you think everyone else has it better?

Besides, dying looks painful, isn't that point enough not to do it? xD

I believe we are all alive to experience. Nobody who ever has or ever will be alive has the same experience of life as you. You are completely unique and so is your life experience. Even if it’s shite at the moment, it’s your very own brand of experiential crap.

Also, try to remember it’s not always like it is today. I know that is hard.

(If you happen to believe in a god, consider that an all-knowing god would never know what uncertainty feels like. So you may consider yourself experiencing a side of god that he can’t experience alone. )

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources.

You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.
