Hi all.
After suffering from bad PND (and thinking i'd conquered it) depression once again reared its ugly head and in May i had a bit of a breakdown :-( after a few med changes, im now on 45mg mirtazapine. While i feel more myself, im pretty ashamed of how much weight i've piled on and am now finding it hard to lose it! Has anyone managed to lose weight on mirtazapine? and if so, any tricks??
TIA x

I was on mirtazapine in hospital for my Anorexia Nervosa so it’s definitely possible but most importantly the drug has to work for you @MrsMa82 and it’s awful but every antidepressant is weighing up the pros and cons and seeing if it ‘worth it’. Are you struggling with the extra weight to the detriment of any good effects this med is having? If yes please don’t be afraid to ask your prescribing doctor to change. A massive squeeze from me.

thank you @OneHanded. Definately seen an improvement. Was on 30mg for a good 10wks before being increased to 45mg about 6wks ago. Out of the ones i tried this one seemed to make more of a difference. I wouldnt say its affecting my mood that im heavier now, but concious of it and dont want it to spiral out of control. i've easily put on a stone already. How long we're you on it for? x

Another question to tag on...i would (ideally) like another baby, but am recently turned 37 :-( am worried about leaving it too late but am aware i might need to be on these tablets for a while. Anyone been in a similar predicament with and have advice? x

I just realised I’ve gotten my antidepressants mixed up sorry! But nonetheless I was still far underweight whilst taking it, but I do remember having increased appetite for sure. I ended up coming off it because I was on the max dose (60mg?) and falling asleep at work. I was working 6-2/10-6 shifts on that dose with heavy machinery so definitely wasn’t the one for me! Are you still in mental health services to be able to get an appointment with a psychiatrist at all? They’ll be able to listen to all of these concerns and give you the right answers. How are you feeling today? I hope it’s sunny where you are for you ❤️
