Self care - what is it to you

Hi all,

I’m trying to incorporate more self care into my daily life. It can be tricky with a two year old and working but I just wanted other people’s suggestions or what they do to look after their mental well-being?

I am currently taking sertraline and seeing a therapist every Thursday, so want to be doing all three to get myself back on track!

Making time to go to a class
Making healthy eating choices
Batch cooking/bulk purchasing my toiletries
Showering and dressing every (almost) day
Coffee time with a friend
I have an arsenal of little things: vitamin supplements, rescue remedy, tisserand rollerballs (amazing), pillow spray, fave teas
Prioritising sleep
Saying no or rescheduling is OK
Positive self talk

Probably more.

Quiet time.
Boundaries
Less screen time.
Nice in store coffee.
Showering.
Therapy
Scented candles
Massages.
Eating enough.

Walking
Reading
Taking time to rest when tired
Saying no sometimes
Eating regular nourishing meals
Little things to look forward to

Mine are
Doing my hair (instead of the curly mum bun)
Applying full face of makeup
Having my nails done
Keeping on top of shaving
Going for a nice coffee

Although these prob seem superficial to some. If I manage them I feel much better about my self. But if I even manage one a day I'm happy Smile

TBH, for me, its just getting on with it. My MH and general enjoyment of life is better when I'm busy and apply myself to getting properly organised so I can get everything done. It deteriorates a lot when I spend too much time "relaxing" especially if that means MN and other social media

When I say get everything done, I'd include healthy eating, exercise and keeping on top of the house, all of which drag me down when I don't.
