Is it common for a gp to do a medication review for medication prescribed by a psychiatrist when the patient saw the psychiatrist less than two months ago?

Do you have a further appt with the psychiatrist? If not maybe they have passed the medication review back to the GP and they just want to see how you're getting on?

Yes. It's my daughter who is under cpa and has her next psychiatrist appointment in January.
The chemist said she can't have another repeat prescription without a GP medication review.

Yes we have just done dd's GP review after 2 months. They just want to check if there's any improvement or side effects etc and explain the consultant will lead on dose so any changes come from them to the GP.

Very normal. The GP is prescribing the medication so is responsible for ensuring it is safe to continue. Last thing you would want is a patient under a psychiatrist stockpiling medication they aren't taking or getting worse and no one seeing them until their next consultant review.
