Massive stress and suicidal thoughts

I've had a lot of stressful problems in the last two weeks on top of episodes of anxiety and fear I get. Now it's become out of control and I feel I can't be calm. I just wish I could escape and die. . I feel as ifI am a pressure cooker of stress and pain and one more thing and I'll burn out or explode or something.

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website or email them on [email protected].

Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

Are you having to be very busy (which must feel like being stuck on a ghastly merry go round)? It’s hell if you don’t have time to stop and recharge.

Do you get any time to yourself?

This might sound really lame, but I’ve started doing tricky jigsaw puzzles. It doesn’t prevent all the other unbearable shite, but taking a few minutes to place a couple of pieces seems to calm my mind a bit, just for that short time.

Other than that, have you been to your GP to discuss meds and/or mental health referrals?

Chickenish · 22/08/2019 20:42

I got like this. Work told me they don’t want me in until I feel better. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing with drs and mental health people and I have been signed off. Funnily no one wants to give me any drugs but I can only have a proper mental health chat if I go to a&e.

I feel under pressure and am really tired. Sitting in bed tonight

I hope that gave you a chance to chill out a bit.

What is happening in your life?

Chickenish · 23/08/2019 12:53

Have you tried watching rubbish so at least you can focus on a pretend someone else’s life rather than your own?

stayclosetoyourself · 23/08/2019 20:16

I have been really very busy and have been at work every day this week. How I have done that I have no idea.I think the worst thing is I feel my boss is bullying or at least undermining me. He used to be supportive but now hes really ordering me about.

Oh no. That does sound relentlessly crap.

Are you due a holiday at all?

Or if it’s really bad, is it worth getting signed off for a couple of weeks by your GP?

Something has to give, sooner or later, in these situations.

Justme1234567 · 23/08/2019 21:12

I hope it gets better OP sounds like you need a few days off from work xx

stayclosetoyourself · 24/08/2019 12:16

I am considering making complaint or at least letting my other snr aware and even resigning.
I still feel overwhelmed.
I have weekend and extra day off which is relief but I dont feel much better in myself

Have you been to the doctor? You might be suffering from anxiety, stress or depression and need a bit of extra help from you GP. Write to the Samaritans or call them, and just keep hanging on. Keep posting to get support here. Hope things get a little easier soon, lots of love to you xxx

stayclosetoyourself · 24/08/2019 12:31

I am suffering with high anxiety. I have a psychologist cbt. Its complicated to explain but work is very important to me and its not something I can just leave.

OP posts:
Leona11 · 24/08/2019 12:56

Of course you don’t want to leave work. I have severe anxiety, and I’m medicated and always will be. I’ve never missed work (no judgement on anyone who needs sick leave, just thought that if my coping mechanism included sick leave every time I’m bad, it wouldn’t help me long term). You might need time off work, or an adjustment to your meds to get you over this bump. Can you talk to work to explain your anxiety and ask for reasonable adjustments such as flexitime or working from home if they are options? X

stayclosetoyourself · 24/08/2019 14:05

Hi Leona that sounds quite similar to me . I have a very high stress and high risk job and have never missed a day work for MH reasons but feel I would if really needed of course. The reason is because I would probably feel worse about myself and also more anxious about going back.
The things that stress me are overall stress level and something like bullying. The work itself although a source of general stress is also enjoyable if that makes sense.

OP posts:
stayclosetoyourself · 24/08/2019 23:13

but not enjoyable now. I have no clue how I got in any day this week.

Hi can anyone help me tonight. I have had a bad day at work and struggling to cope. I feel I need to self soothe but cant focus on what to do first .
Any suggestions please. I know there is distraction like watching TV. there is soothing breathing(done it)
Being mindful, staying in the present but how when I feel full of the day.
Thanks

Hi i have just read through your posts, i am in the same position, though its been worse because of stuff going on at home and work is making it worse.

I tend to eat my feelings when i have had a bad day which isnt the best!

But i have gone back to a series of books i love and that always give me comfort when i read them. They are fantasy but i love reading them!

I have also found having a bath (with my books! 🤦‍♀️) helps.

Im sorry i dont have better advice but your not alone

stayclosetoyourself · 01/09/2019 00:34

Thankyou for advice. I feel I am struggling toward overwhelm and even toward burnout. I feel so fearful for work Monday

How was work today?

If you feel like you are going to burn out, you need to get signed off. Better to stop it before jt starts then deal with the repercussions.

SaveMeFromMrTumble · 02/09/2019 19:55

Oooo sorry!

I just changed my user name! (I was Mumma)
