I am on day 2 of escipalotram. Only 10mg. I am really struggling with the side effects already.

Has anyone taken it and have any advice on how to get through the next few days?

TIA

Try and stick with it, is it nausea? If so ginger or ginger beer( a good one with a lot of ginger)

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 20/08/2019 15:05

Ginger tea or ginger beer that should read.

Sharpkat · 20/08/2019 15:22

It is nausea and pressure in my head. Have been eating ginger nuts all day.

Thanks for responding

The side effect I got from it was extreme drowsiness rather than nausea, but it went away in a week. Hopefully yours will too. So I’m another advising persevering if you can at all. Good luck!

Sharpkat · 20/08/2019 15:32

Thanks @Brittany2019. I shall keep going for a few more days and will hopefully feel a bit better. I have a funeral to attend tomorrow and it is going to be tough feeling like this.

We're just moving this over to mental health for the OP.

Sharpkat · 20/08/2019 18:49

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the best time of day to take it? I am thinking evening although am also taking zopiclone for a few days.

cherryblossomgin · 20/08/2019 18:56

When I started I would take it before bed so the majority of the side effects werent felt. The first few days I took it in the morning and I really struggled.

Sharpkat · 20/08/2019 20:04

Thanks @cherryblossomgin Will take the next dose tomorrow night.

Hope today wasn't too bad for you and you are feeling a bit better.Cake (not a shit one )

Sharpkat · 21/08/2019 17:33

Today I have just spent in bed. I took some zopiclone at 8pm last night and woke up at 10pm to voices in my flat. I thought I was hallucinating.

I opened my bedroom door and my landlord and neighbour were there. My flat has flooded the one below (no fault of my own) and they were trying to sort it out. Totally threw me and I was all out of sorts.

Have managed to get a plumber to sort it today but that has just caused me massive anxiety so am hibernating.

Will take the next dose tonight and hopefully be able to surface tomorrow.

Thanks for checking in on me.

Oh Bloody Hell, not what you needed.
Here's looking at a more positive tomorrow!

Limensoda · 22/08/2019 17:20

I've been on that for 13 weeks. I still get head pressure but my anxiety and depression is much better.

Vix20678 · 22/08/2019 17:22

I found the first 3 days hard but then it got so much better. Definitely take in the evening.

PatMustardsMoustache · 22/08/2019 18:18

How are you feeling today OP?

Sharpkat · 23/08/2019 18:16

Thanks all for checking in. I am still not feeling great at all. I am not sleeping either.

I don't know whether to persevere or give up. This time next week I will be on holiday and I cannot feel like this. The holiday is a present from my friend for my 40th.

I still have the pressure in my head and the nausea. Am just so tired as well.

Think I will continue until
Sunday and then see how I am doing.

@16Sharpkat
I didn't sleep more than an hour at night when I started escitalopram. I was exhausted but after a few weeks I slept longer.

Sharpkat · 23/08/2019 19:19

Thanks @Limensoda I am taking zopiclone as well although tonight will be the last dose. I just want to sleep. Really hope I feel better soon.

Good luck,....hope it gets sorted @16Sharpkat

Sharpkat · 26/08/2019 16:45

Thought I would just update. The zopliclone were hopeless. No more than 3 hours sleep.

Have bought some promethazine which I have had before but makes me put on weight but at least I sleep.

The side effects of the escitalopram are almost bearable now apart from the TMI constant diarrhoea.

Will keep persevering and right now trying to keep cool.

Thanks for all of the support.

@45Sharpkat

Enjoy your holiday if you can.....I hope you get some sleep.

Volluto · 26/08/2019 22:49

Interesting comment about the promethazine. I've been taking it with escotopram and always assumed it was the escitalopram causing the weight gain. Perhaps not?

Limensoda · 27/08/2019 07:04

@49Volluto

I haven't been able to gain weight on escitalopram. I lost 14lb with anxiety and have been trying to put some weight on but can't seem to.
