My adult ds has just confided in me when he crashed his car 2 years ago it was deliberately.. He has recognised he has become dependent on alcohol also.. I have told him I will get him a Dr appointment ASAP. What more can I do? Out of my depth here. Older ds recently diagnosed bipolar.. Have I made them like this? Feel massive guilt tbh.
Scared of saying wrong things.
Older ds worn discuss his mh at all. Younger one seems to need me to know what to do. And I don't!!

That must have been difficult to hear. I would get some support for yourself so you can support them. You could start with www.al-anonuk.org.uk, but there are probably other local groups as well.

Has he considered AA meetings?

I will Google AA in our area and send him the details. He witnessed an awful crime some years ago as a teen and he took meds back then but I think he felt a failure for needing them. He failed exams due to it all and blames that on having the job he has now.. Which is a stressful career..
