I feel like I can't do next week.

I work in a school. I want to go to bed and not wake up. Next week should be the easiest week of the year but just thinking about it makes me cry.

What I want to do is not an option. What I do need is positive coping strategies. I'm open to all suggestions, because right now I'm at a loss.

Sorry to hear that OP. The last leg can feel the longest. Can you do the absolute minimum? Give the children activities which will require minimum input. Avoid speaking too much to conserve your energy unless you need to? Be as low key as you can. Get some early nights this weekend and give yourself a treat?

I'm staying in all weekend. I'm already trying to be clever with lessons and trying to convince myself that it doesn't make me workshy.

The suggestion of limited speech sounds good - will have to find the spoons to rethink some activities and make it purposeful.

So sorry that you are feeling this way op! The last week is expected to be fun and minimal so can they watch a film, play some games etc? I'm not sure what age you work with?

Secondary. We should be teaching until Friday midday.

Currently lifting my mood on the face painter naming thread. Maybe next week will be okay.

I'm a 1-1 TA in a primary school. I'm physically ill by this time of year, every year. My 1-1 child gets more and more hyper and my fatigue hits harder and harder as the weeks go on.

One more week... the hardest week!

Lists and plans. List other jobs 3 at a time and tick them off.
That's how I've got through the last 2 weeks and will do the next 8 working days. Plan easy fun activities, twinkl is your best friend.
I'm struggling terribly, but I've spent a year with the little blighters, I'm going to finish the year ! You can do it !

I’m so sorry you feel this way at the moment. Take it a day at a time.

Remember that’s days also include the evenings and night: use the time to recharge.

BelulahBlanca · 12/07/2019 21:42

Your aren’t work shy OP. You’ve worked all year!

costacoffeecup · 12/07/2019 21:45

What do you teach? I'm sure the last week of term was all films and games when I was at secondary but that was twenty odd years ago. Maybe if you plan something fun (bingo/quiz which is relevant to the subject but has teams and prizes maybe?) you might find you enjoy it too.

Well done for getting this far. It's a thankless job.

The fact that it's Sports Day for us next week and "all staff and students will wear sports clothes" is enough to tip me over the edge.

No-one - especially 300 inner-city teens - needs to see my 36hh boobs and size 18 arse in sports clothes!! Bad enough doing it anonymously at the gym 😩

Oh, and Head is observing my lesson on Tuesday. Great.

stainedglassbarceiling · 12/07/2019 21:56

I don't think it's 100% thankless. I love my job but I just don't think I'm very well right now.

I teach a core subject and we have instructions to teach until Fri. SLT are doing drop ins all week to check no-one is putting films on.

YANBU. I feel utterly sick with anxiety about next week. This week has been horrific too.
