Headaches with sertraline still after 6 months

I started sertraline 6 months ago and it is really helping me but I’m getting a lot pressure type in my headaches, sometimes it goes into my nose too. I feels a bit like sinus but I don’t think it is. Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes the discomfort is right at the crown of my head.

I had to check this wasn't me because last night I was thinking of posting the exact same thing. I don't have any advice sorry, but I'm in the same boat.

I've also been on Sertraline for 6 months and am having almost daily headaches now. I'm prone to migraines and have noticed an increase in migraine symptoms alongside tiredness over the past 6 months. It's getting to the stage where I'm tempted to ask about coming off of it.

Thanks for replying @TheVeryHungryTortoise. I’m thinking the same as I feel a bit woozy and unreal but I know my anxiety is better. I didn’t seem to get headaches to start with and the tiredness is a real problem. I just want to go to bed the same time as my kids!

Sertraline is dreadful, I wouldn't touch it. Who wants to suffer headaches and migrainous symptoms regularly? I'd rather have depression and anxiety and work through it.

It's an unfortunate fact that only drugs are available on the NHS and if you no longer want to take them, you are discharged from the Mental Health team.

@Somethingsosimple Yes! Same here! My partner keeps complaining because I go to bed straight after my son does most nights. I also feel like the headaches have built over time but maybe I just didn't put two and two together to begin with. I've been drinking so much water in the hopes that it was all just dehydration!

It is possible to drink too much water - if you have fluid retention you can get headaches.

It is possibly histamine related i.e. hay fever or allergies, not to dismiss it, but I found Sertraline magnified everything. I have never had traditional runny nose with hay fever but I get tired and have headaches when my system is overloaded with histamine. I found that switching to a low histamine diet helped almost immediately - when I googled high histamine foods I realised that comprised most of my diet! Even a few low histamine days still really help. Do you have any other symptoms?

You could also try lowering the dose - please be aware there can be withdrawal coming off Sertraline and I would recommend going very slowly (no more than 12.5 mg at a time), speaking from experience.

I have Been taking 100 sertraline for 5 months and have just started to have some Pressure feelings in my head
I saw a post in 2019 where someone was saying the same I have never felt levelled on sertraline and don’t know whether to risk increasing
Is there anyone who could give me any re assurance or advice

Just seen your post from ages ago
I’m struggling on sertraline after switching from dothiepin 8 months ago
If you don’t mind me asking What happened to your head pressures

KatyGaga · 01/09/2022 10:41

I have been on sertraline since February and feel pressure in my head and foggy and depressed rather than anxious, on 50mg is this normal?

ZoloftHeadaches · 16/01/2024 18:52

Started Zoloft in December 2023 and is suffering from weird feeling of headache on the top of my head, on my scalp. Sometimes moves to my forehead area as well. My doctor said this will pass as my body adjusts to the medication, but it’s so bothersome, I can’t wait. I’m on 25mg and I’m not going up in dose until this goes away! I also take .5mg Xanax as needed if my anxiety starts up.
Is anyone else experiencing this and if so…. Those who have; how long until this terrible headache feeling passes.
Please help.
