Hi all last year I started a thread and cant find it to update.

To save going around the houses I've been diagnosed with bpd and some other mh diagnosis and he has prescribed me 50mg of quietapine. I'm due to start taking them tonight and on the box it says take 2 at night, I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience in taking them?

Yup, i take 300mg at night and another 100mg during the day. I can have them when I want i don't have a set time with the daytime ones. They are 25mg tablets.

How did you feel when you first started taking them? And do they take long to kick in.

I'm just unsure aswel what time to take them as I take my mirtazapine around 10pm and I'm thinking maybe take them at the same time or would they interfere with each other..sorry to ask loads of questions I didn't think to ask the psychiatrist as I was in shock and relieved that it's not all in my head the crazy things I've done..thank you

I take 550mg at night with 200mg lamotrogine and 45 mirtazapine.

Knocks me out in fairness and I feel hungover in the morning. If I take any later than 9pm then I’m not in work for 8am!!

Is ir extended or normal release?

I take a humongous dose of 2400mg. (The normal max dose is 800mg though). I found the extended release made me very sleepy all day and I put weight on (Q is notorious for weight gain). I swapped to normal release and it was fine. But I’ve heard people have the opposite experience—unfortunately it really is a case of trial and error.

I’m on lots of different meds, but Quetiapine is very good for depression/agitation.

Wow that’s quite a dose 50mg.... honestly they made me lethargic, teary, fat and washed out

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 29/06/2019 21:16

Hi sorry for late reply had a bad night last night, I there extended release I took them last night at 10 and just felt like lead and all day today i have been very tired and sleepy despite being up at 10.30 which is early for me, going to try them at 9 30 tonight instead with my mirtazapine as hopefully I'll be less tired tomorrow. Just felt all hazed and tired today and been drinking more juice than normal as my mouth was dry.

Try taking them earlier. I took the extended release version at 6pm. I take the normal release at 9pm. For me, the sleepiness of the ER never subsided. The instant release was so much better. Try to give it a decent go—it can be a really effective medication if you can deal with the side effects.

OP how strange I just posted the same question for the same reason. Diagnosed with BPD recently and have been prescribed this medication. Hope the medication helps you.
