I’ve been referred to the home treatment team and they are apparently coming tomorrow.
What will they do?
The mental health nurse who visits me said they are an alternative to going into hospital and I need more intensive help than she can offer me. I feel a bit sad about that as I really like her. She listens and seems to understand.

Just done a placement with the home treatment team. not an expert
The team that I worked with went to people houses, checked on well fare, talked about any medication issues, blood tests if needed. Helped with doctors, housing and any social care issues and benefits. They are there to help prevent any hospital admissions. They are there to help not judge so be as open as you can.
Good luck

As said, they are a way of trying to keep people out of hospital while providing more care. I've been under them many times--they tend to come out every day or twice a day when really bad. You'll tend to see different people each time, which is a bit of a pain. You will be transferred back to your normal MH person/CPN once the crisis has passed. I hope they're helpful.
