Sertraline Day 5

I'm on 50mg sertraline day 5 . . . first few days had some side effects but some feelings of relief from negative thinking and panic etc. But today has been awful full on belief in all the thoughts . . . is this normal for the first 2 weeks? up / down / up / down?! Feel like I'm losing my sense of what's real! And my tastebuds have gone a bit weird too!

Hi, I've been on sertraline a while and when I first went on it the side effects were brutal, but I was on a higher dose. I'd say by week 5 I started to feel better. If you can, stick it out it will be worth it.

Hi Parkmama
I started it about 8 days ago, it has increased my anxiety levels, agitation and intrusive thoughts also. Your GP can prescribe something to help like diazepam short term if you are struggling with increased anxiety levels.

@Holdingonforlife thank you good to know it's not just me, it's awful when you start to feel a bit of relief for it then to seemingly get worse!

Yes, very. I've found I've been up and down, but definitely worse in the mornings and better by the evening. My doctor wants me to increase the dose, however worried the anxiety and nausea will worsen Confused

Do you mind me asking how things are going with the sertraline? Have things settled?
I'm on day 11, still no let up for me I'm afraid Sad

@Holdingonforlife it's day 8 now and I feel calmer, certainly less panicked and I feel more rational. I'm still feeling side effects but less so. I still have waves of anxiety now and then but it's passing quicker. Hang in there, supposedly 2 weeks is the time things start to come together x

@Parkmama
Glad to hear things are starting to settle for you. Hopefully it will for me too, and soon!
