Has anyone been on it? Any experiences good or bad. I’ve just started it and just slept the the whole weekend. This is not practical. I work, have three children. I need to function. Does this wear off? Please say it does...I can’t bear it. It makes me anxious

Yes it wears off. First time I took it was a Thursday in hospital, 10mg. I woke up on the Saturday thinking it was Friday! I changed to something else but went back on it years later. I ended up being on 25mg a day (above the BNF max dose) plus an extra 15mg a day if I needed it. I was tired but not knocked out. I was in a secure unit at the time and they used to wake us up at 7.15am which was difficult but possible.

That said, if you're really not getting on with it, there are alternatives which are slightly less sedating. Aripriprizole is the best for not sedating you, but it's not as effective. Risperidone isn't too bad. Can you explain your anxiety to your doctor? They may or may not listen.

Other than side effects, olanzapine does work well. Changes lives and saves lives. Good luck with it

How are you now OP? My dad was taking olanzopine for 10 years due to drug induced psychosis and he experienced the same as you, extreme tiredness and would drag himself around. It eventually went away once his body got used to the drug. He has told me in the past it has been a life saver for his psychosis and stopped dreadful voices and thoughts.
Unfortunately it stopped working in 2016 and was switched to a new antipsychotic. Hope you feel better soon.
