A&E for suicidal thoughts?

The past few days I’ve been having strong suicidal thoughts. Last night I almost acted upon it. I feel as though I’m a danger to myself and may act upon it today. A friend suggested A&E, therefore I’m considering going there. Would it be a good idea to go A&E for these suicidal thoughts?

Hi yes definitely go to A and E but keep talking to people (helplines in link above). I know two people that felt this way in the past. They sought out support and are living happy lives now. Take care x

I think that's a very good idea... I am glad you have recognised you need help too.

Please go to A&E it's the first step to getting better 😀

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

I have taken myself to A&E under the same circumstances before. Everyone treated me with such kindness. I kept apologising for wasting their time but they assured me they'd much rather I go up in that state than have me being rushed in having acted on my thoughts. They contacted the mental health crisis team and got me help. I would advise you to go up there Flowers

Defibately go to a&e. Is there anyone you can confide in who could go with you for a bit of support?

How are you now OP? I have been there and yes I had to go to A&E because of it. My hospital has a crisis team that work in the hospital and support people in the hospital. Really glad you haven’t acted on these thoughts, try and ride the wave and get the help you need.
