Just wondered if there are any other mums out there with ADHD and wanted to say "hiya!" Grin and "I know how messy your home is" 😂

My son has just been diagnosed and I have really been wondering about myself. How did you get diagnosed? It was going to take 2 years for DS to see a paediatrician so we paid to go private. I can't even imagine what the adult wait would be like!

I had to go private at first too but tried through my gp and forgot I was on the list! About 2 and a half years later I got a letter saying a private company had taken over employed by the nhs and now the nhs are dealing with me.

This is the company...

They do everything via video link to cut down on costs.

I hope you and your son both get the help you require!

I really like your username! Smile

Ah thanks! I'll check that out.

Have you found things better since your diagnosis?

somanyquestions2018 · 29/05/2019 07:58

Yes very much so! Firstly it just gives you the knowledge 'so I'm not lazy stupid or crazy'-which is actually also the name of a famous adhd book 📖 you should get.

And also...you get medication! Adhd medication can often be demonised in the general media but for me it has been very helpful.

My husband has recently been diagnosed with ADHD we also had to pay privately. As he couldn't wait the 4 year waiting list. Although i didn't blame him. Its been a hard few years, for him and me and as our family.

It is hard! It's so associated with kids but addh is a neurological isorder. Stays with you for life!
