ADs during pregnancy

Are there any? I came off Venlafaxine at Xmas and have gone steadily downhill. I know I need to be brave and talk to somebody but I feel like I may need to go back on medication.
However we are trying for another baby hence why I came off the pills. Are there any ADs that are safe during pregnancy?

I'm on sertraline, this has been cleared with the Antenatal Mental Health team. Do discuss it with a pharmacist and your GP, I'm sure they would be happy to help. Good luck!

Hi there, I am in no way a qualified dr so obviously I would say to check with your GP or registered health care giver.

However, I have suffered long term with depression, and had both AND and PND with my first, so when I was pregnant with my second, I stayed on my ADs - low dose of Prozac. It did help, and I was assured that there wouldn't be any effects. I think what they do is weigh up the effects on the baby against the effects of the mother's state of mind.

That's just my experience, and again I would encourage you to discuss it with your GP.

Ok thank you. Urgh I want to feel normal again!!! I'm so fed up of feeling tearful and just shit. I've taken the first step of emailing a therapist so I'll see how I go with that and then will go back to GP. Thanks again.

Hi, I was on anti depressants during my second pregnancy & the school of thought was the benefits outweighed any possible risks. My baby was fine. Hope this helps.
