Anxiety and what to do about it???

Can anyone help?

I have never felt like this before.
In my early 40's, 2 kids, stressful job, fairly busy social life.

I always have about 100 "to do" lists buzzing round my head. Finding sleeping all night quite tricky and have heart palpitations from time to time,

It's getting to me. I also have terrible digestive issues and a feeling of anxiety in my tummy a lot of the time.
Had some tests done at the GP re my gut - which came back fine (it's not cancer or hormone or liver related etc) GP said to try eating less white bread - I don't eat fucking white bread!!

Been exercising every day and massively cut down on alcohol & caffine,

What else can I do??? I HATE feeling like this 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I feel like this too - my stomach is constantly churning like I'm super nervous but I'm not nervous

Hi OP no advice but don't ignore the anxiety in your stomach, its a sign you are stressed and long term that is not good. Mental overload may be the cause or the symptom. Do you do any alternative therapies? Mindfulness? Massage? Would a counsellor help? Can you reduce your load short or long term?

Agree with @ADHDme I've used mindfulness app during these times and it's really helped in calming things down and stopping it before it becomes all consuming x

Lack of sleep can cause anxiety, I'd tackle that first. Can you ever take an afternoon nap? Ever go to bed earlier? Have you noticed it being better when you have had a better night's sleep? Would it be possible to reduce your social life to sleep instead, ifonly for a week or two to see if it helps?

Hi thanks for your replies.
It's definitely to do with mental overload. Work/ kids etc.
And lack of sleep.
Exercise helps.
Sleep helps when it's possible (I've had various family members waking me in the night for the last few years 🙄)
Just had a relaxing bank holiday weekend and can feel my stress bubbling up about work tomorrow. I mostly like my job but there's a lot of responsibility & I find that stressful I think.
Been wanting to get back into yoga & meditation. It's just forcing yourself to make the time in an already stupidly busy schedule....
