....day 3 and I am feeling terrible. Far more depressed and anxious than I ever was. Guilt and a sense of impeding doom.

Anyone else on these?

Citalopram can make anxiety worse initially, persevere if you can, it gave me my life back after suffering from crippling anxiety and panic attacks.

Its Totally normal for the anxiety and low mood to worsen in the first 1 to 2 weeks. This is purely down to neuropharmacology and the sudden excess of serotonin. Things will settle and benefits seen at 3 to 4 weeks for depression and a little longer for anxiety. If you've made the decision to go on them, push past this bit and stick with them.

It cam make you feel absolutely awful in the first few weeks as others have said.

Now, there is awful and climbing the walls awful. Citalopram sent me.round the bend, frankly.

If you cannot get on with it after a week then I'd strongly recommend asking to be swapped to another less activating SSRI. Sertraline has always done the job for me. ⁹
