Insomnia

So my DD (10) has had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep for 1.5 years. Have got her all the help and she turned a corner and was a bit better. However she seems to have regressed lately and this has massively triggered my anxiety and insomnia.
I had chronic anxiety brought on from insomnia 4 years ago and I feel like it’s all coming back. It was a nightmare 6 months but I worked hard and got over it. Trying to use all my CBT tools but the dr won’t give me my trusty zopiclone (which I used very sparingly). That in its self makes me stressed as it was my safety net.
Just spent another night awake using nytol and stomach is in knots.
Any other tips? Am reluctant to try any drugs due to side affects. Going on holiday on 3 days and worrying about that as I will ruin it all for everyone being stressed. Sad

So sorry to hear this, OP. I sympathise. I'm currently on Sertraline for depression and anxiety and my insomnia just recently has been unbearable.

Last night I tried a Rescue Night Liquid Melt capsule which I bought online (same makers as Rescue Remedy). Whether it was mind over matter, I don't know, but I was asleep within 15 minutes of taking it and slept solidly for eight and a half hours. It's been years since I slept that long without waking up! Might have been a one off fluke but they weren't expensive so thought I'd give them a whirl. Children can take them too.

Good luck, OP. Insomnia is just the worst thing. Flowers

Wow that sounds like heaven fairydust. I can’t remember the last time I had 8 hours sleep. I’m lucky if I grab a broken 4/5 hours! You must have felt like a new woman!

I’ll give them a whirl. I have the rescue remedy night drops but I can’t say they worked on me or DD.

In my desperation today (about 2 hrs sleep over 2 nights), I saw a different more sympathetic dr who gave me some sleeping tabs to get me out of this loop. She also suggested some more CBT to get me out of this current worried way of thinking. It’s so hard when you just want your kids to be calm and settled.

Has anyone tried hypnotherapy for insomnia?
If I have something big on the next day, I can guarantee I will sabotage my sleep worrying about it.
