Setraline for ocd, I'm scared to take my first pill

NC for this because i don't want anyone to know I have ocd. Had ocd for 15 plus years now, it's getting worse and worse. Tried cbt in the past which didn't help much. Finally found courage to go to the doctors again (really embarrassed explaining it) and I have just been prescribed some setraline. I'm too scared to try the first pill after looking at all the side effects. Anyone else taking or taken it? What is it like?

It changed my DPs life in short. He has struggled with anxiety for YEARS like 15 years. He says it's the best thing he ever did. He has thrived since going on it last June. It didn't 'change' his personality. I know people are worried they will feel numb but that's not been the case but the anxiety has gone.

You have done so amazingly well asking for help, you should be really proud of yourself.

The side effects made him feel a bit 'funny' (how he explained it) and a little more anxious but these disappeared in around 3 weeks.

I took it for depression and OCD. It definitely helped me but I had cbt too. Coming off was hard but is manageable if done gradually.

Just to say too, it made me a bit tired at first so I took it at night. You will need to find what works for you.

I took it for my OCD and were on them for just over two years. No side effects and they helped me so much!

I take it - it's honestly changed my life. I personally haven't had side effects although you may do. These drugs also take a while to work, so don't worry if you start and don't feel better straight away. I would definitely give it a go. Hugs!

I took it a few years back for anxiety and depression. I'll be honest, the first two weeks weren't great, I felt like I had the flu, really wiped out and nauseous. But....they were life changing. They kept me alive. If take them again in a second if I needed them. And many people have no side effects at all, so please take them, this is day one of the rest of your life!

I've been taking them for 6 weeks now and I love them. I so wish I'd asked for them sooner. I really didnt realise how bad things had got. Its not until now I'm coming out of the other side and i feel like me again, i thought the real me was long gone.
Side effect wise, yeah I felt pretty crap for the first week, it was a really strange feeling but that soon cleared.
Give them a go and preserver, give it two weeks for the side effects to pass and at least 4 to feel the full effects (it'll probably happen sooner)
I hope they work for you Flowers
