Was on sertraline since end of last year came off just over a week ago and having horrible physical symptoms of these brain zap sensations and just feel really dizzy and bizarre. Also nightmares every night. My mood and emotions are fine but these symptoms are horrible and just hope there's an end in sight.

Yes, withdrawal lasted a couple of weeks for me. It felt like a weird combination of being drunk and hungover at the same time, it gets better. Have you done a staggered withdrawal or just stopped them completely?

That's exactly how I feel! I was briefly upped to 100 then I tapered down to 50 for few days then stopped. My doctor thought of putting me on something else awhile ago and said at 50 it's low dose that I wouldn't need to wean off so I didn't think it was necessary but now think maybe I should of. But rather ride it out then put more into my system now. What dose were you on and did you stop gradually? X

Maybe take 25 for a few weeks. Slpw and steady is v important.

Last time I very slowly came off sertraline I mean over 12 weeks gradually I was ok until the end once I'd stop taking it I was snappy agitated and jumpy. I've put my dh through quite a rollercoaster since January so I'm back on them and stable. Looking back I was obviously not ready to come off them .

Oh and I'd been on them about 10 months previously so I think longterm is better

Please do a bit of research about tapering safely. Most gps don't have a clue and will have you tapering way too quickly, as has happened in your case.

Yes to tapering off slowly! I went from 100 to 0 over 6 months after reading other people's experiences. I did 100, 75, 50, 25 for month each then split the 25 tablet so 12.5 a day for month then alternative days. All at my own pace. GP was a bit mmm but worked for me and much more gentle than abruptly stopping.
