Venlaflaxine increase

Hi all. I just wanted to see if anyone has been in the same position as me. I was taking 150mg venlaflaxine for a few months then recently increased to 187.5mg. I have noticed a difference in as much that I'm not crying as often but am still anxious. I feel my lows aren't as bad if that makes sense. Tomorrow I go up to 225mg. I'm hoping because I've had a positive response from the last increase that this dose might do the trick? Any positive stories world be great. Thank you

About 18 months ago I went up from - i can't remember what - to 225mg +37.5 mg. It really helped and got me out of the awful place I was in. However, I feel I am heading there again so am hoping another increase might be possible and helpful.

Good luck!

I’ve been on 225mg since Oct
Like you I have noticed I’m not as depressed but still have anxiety
It’s Not as full on as it was Before going on venlafaxine

I tried it once before at 225mg can’t remember how many weeks but a few, I didn’t see much change so dropped again to 187.5mg.
After a bout of high anxiety and feeling down again crying about the way I was feeling thinking (too much) I went back to gp crying and between us decide to give 225mg another go
So been on that dose since Oct.

You can only give it a go but I’d say at least 3mth, as I don’t think I gave it long enough last time.

Do you suffer any mouth issues?

Beckycw · 25/03/2019 20:51

I don't think I have any mouth issues. Is this something you have trouble with? I'll give the increase a try but I'm just coming to my wits end with pnd. I just want to feel like myself again 😣

Yer, mouth is problem for me
Tongue can become really sore and gums on inside top teeth feel when touched with tongue swollen (don’t think they are, but defo feels like it)
I’m not sure if Anxiety related or med related or even menopause (hormones)

It’s horrible when you feel shit, and don’t see an end to it!

Good luck, keep posting with update. Your not alone in the way you feel xx

Are you feeling better? Xxx

Yer better, but can still have my down/anxiety days!!
I think it’s a lot to do with hormones
With me, as I’m post menopausel

The same happens with hormones when you have a baby there all over the place, and with you being younger than me yours need to re adjust again with can take upto 6 mths plus.

The meds help, but a lot I think needs to come from us.
We start to lose confidence with ourselves because we’ve felt so
Down/anxious maybe sleep deprived, nauseous no appetite, frightened, scared
It’s one of the most horrendous illness

Keep going, you’ll get there.
Embrace the good days when there thereSmile x
