Hi,
I've been on citalopram since August 2018 (20mg) and I feel so detached from reality.
I had suffered with depersonalisation prior to starting the medication which I know is a symptom of anxiety but this is like a whole new level.
I feel like each day I'm just going through the motions and feel almost zombie like.
My GP has prescribed sertraline but i can't bear to reduce my dose of citalopram to make the switch.
Has anyone else switched ADs and found anxiety ect worse?
I can't keep feeling this way Confused

Hi Mummyummy,
I'm sorry you're having these problems. My DB suffers dreadfully with depersonalisation. He has been on 8 or 9 ADs in last few years. While none have made his anxiety worse, he has suffered other side effects and none have actually improved the depression. He is treated by a CMHT rather than GP. GP prescribed Citalopram initially. Psychiatrist changed it as it wasn't going to be of sufficient help for DB's condition.

It is often necessary to try a number of ADs before finding a suitable one and sometimes a combination of 2 different ones is used. I hope you find one that really helps soon.
