For the past 14 months, I'm even more tired and legs are heavy than ever before. I've been tired for the past 10 years due to lack of money cos my dh is self employed and had a shit business partner. Dh got rid of him 2 yrs ago. Money is much better now but I'm still exhausted!! . I've had everything checked by the docs. But all in clear. Maybe I could do with antidepressant tabs to give me that 'lift'...?

I’m no expert but didn’t want to read and run.
I’m not sure anti-depressants give energy? Is that something a Dr suggested?
Sorry you are feeling this way though. Is it all day or just at certain times? Do you exercise? (Sorry if it’s a silly question with the exhaustion!)

Funkaccino · 21/03/2019 19:38

Depression itself cause tiredness so I guess thats what the OP is hoping the antidepressants will do.

Antidepressants can cause a lot of ither issues so I wouldn't mess with them unless you really need them. Kids can be quite a drudge and lead to exhaustelion. Do you get muxh exercise?

biglips · 21/03/2019 20:02

I didn't say the doc suggested about the antidepressant tabs as it's something I'm thinking of, maybe it will give me a lift. I've always been between the line of stress/depression as doc said years ago.
Yes I do exercise but I'm exhausted from it and I stopped going out a few years ago as I'm shattered by 9pm.... If I want to go to the cinema or meal, I'll book it very early so I'm home early.

I even stopped having sex with my dh cos I simply can't be arse... My body and brain has sapped!!

perimenopause?

Funkaccino · 21/03/2019 20:21

3 kids (2 still young) is tiring though. If money is better could you buy some help? Babysitter for just a couple hours on a friday evening so you can reconnect with Dh. Cleaner etc. Just do something about the drudge and see if it helps

i dont know what is up with me. im 44 now..i started to feel more tired than usual 10 yrs ago and dh became self-employed.
every time i got to the docs, they palmed me off to the counselling. i just want drugs to wake me up!
ive done everything they told me to do which its not easy but ive pushed myself and im too drained to have a conversion with strangers. its no win situation.

2 members of my family commited suicide and the 3rd was an attempted. one of them is my mums twin. im not suidical as ive got kids and i know my life can be better but how?

ive joined a craft club which i love, but cancelled my friendship meetup every couple of weeks as the people were lovely but im too exhausted to carry on a conversion which them im bored cos my brain wont work!!

biglips · 21/03/2019 20:30

I get very tired as I start feeling depressed again. Someone told me tiredness is a state of mind. I know this is hard but retrain your mind that being tired is ok, and try to not think about being tired.
I'm not surprised you are actually tired though!! Try the book the Happiness Trap. It's amazing for me

biglips · 21/03/2019 20:35

its awful but with my dh...i rather be in bed, asleep, than go out.

3 years ago, i started to watch tv less and less i might watch one programme and then thats it for me and i even stopped drinking.

im completely the opposite of what i was like 10 years ago.
its so depressing

When you say you have been checked over by the doctor who found nothing, did you have a full blood work up done? Specifically your vitamin D levels?
I've been treated for depression for years, with various meds to no avail, and I'd be absolutely exhausted all the time, like dragging myself through thick mud all day, having to have afternoon naps, bone weary.
It was definitely worse between maybe October to the end of March, I could actually feel it coming on, and by this time of year I would be on my knees with the tiredness. I had my bloods done because of excruciating hip pains and it turned out my vit D level was less than half what it should be, so was treated with a high dose vit D and calcium supplement. It took a while to notice any change but then I suddenly didn't need to sleep in the afternoon, and my mood was so much brighter, it's amazing how much difference it made.

biglips · 21/03/2019 21:24

Yes they did the full blood test a few years ago now and came back clear. I find it between Jan till March/April.. I'm at my worse but the rest of the year I'll plod on. I don't nap as I've tried but I lay there wide awake.

It just shows you about your hip pain was due to lack of vit d.
Glad it worked out for u in the end.

I'm gonna ask the doc to do another full blood test.
Then I can rule it out if it clear.

Yeah, definitely helped with the hip pain, but lots of other niggles too, including the mood and energy.
I really hope you get some answers and help.

Make sure they check your thyroid as this sounds very like the utter exhaustion that goes with hypothyroidism.

squaresandsquares · 21/03/2019 23:14

Also ask for exact figures of B12 etc in bloods as it might be in the range of being enough in system but at the lower end so you may need toping up but they might not mention that. Just a thought

biglips · 22/03/2019 09:22

Later... I had my thyroid checked a few years ago and said it was all normal.
Squares... I had my b12 checked 2 years ago... What figures in bloods do I need to be having to classed as normal?

It may well be perimenopausal. I had symptoms of fatigue for two years before I realised it was perimenopausal. I ended up trying Vogel Menopause SUpport and in 5 days I felt much more emotionally centred. It took 60 days however for the fatigue to clear but I persevered and have been taking the dose twice a day ever since last spring and I haven't looked back.

biglips · 23/03/2019 20:14

Thanks polly..... I do hope I get answers this time as Ive been going round in circle for years...

I'm glad you got yourself sorted in the end.

Google search for phq-9. It's a short questionnaire than can indicate whether you are experiencing the symptoms of depression. If you are, book in with the GP to discuss options. Treatment for depression in adults is most successful when medication is combined with a talking therapy.

NB anti-depressants are not straightforward energy pills. You can expect to be on them at least 6 months and they can have side effects, so you might need to tinker a bit with which pill and what dose.

biglips · 30/03/2019 10:20

I went to the docs but never got round asking him about a blood test cos I mentioned a headache first which he checked my blood pressure and it was sky high 209/190. He told me to straight to the hosp and i ended up staying overnight. I'm on the hbp tabs and gotta go back next week for a check up. I got a clean health bill and put it down to stress.

Now I looked on the Internet and it said that tiredness can causes by hbp.

I'll see how it go in the next couple of weeks.
