Hi guys,

I have been on citalopram for 3 weeks now and I am just wondering how long it may take until I am feeling more calm and stable?

I have had anxiety all my life really since child hood and I started to get panic attacks that were affecting my work- have been signed off work for 1 month and due to go back in a couple of weeks.

I tried fluoxetine and it made me have awful panic attacks that woke me up during my sleep and I ended up with bad insomnia and feeling like a zombie-

So I was given citalopram 20mg- one per day and have been really lucky to not have any symptoms except vivid dreams-
I am feeling better than I did but not 100%- still feeling a little anxious etc...every time I think about going back to work I start to get panicy...

Also did this help anyone with stress/pmt/moods?

Thanks Smile

After about two weeks I started to feel better but drugs will only do so much. I also had counselling, cbt, changed my diet, exercised twice a week, kept a journal, etc.
I’m three years on now and still have ups and downs. Have actually just increased my dosage as had a lot on and dipping again.
I would give it a few weeks and see.
It took me a long time, 6 months or so, to really feel like I’d got myself back.
Citalopram wouldn’t have done it on its own but I couldn’t have done it without it if you see what I mean.
