mental state after a heart attack

Hi - Helpful advice needed please.

My husband age 45 had a heart attack 4 weeks ago. He is home and back at work, with a stent in his heart and talking a daily cocktail of medication.

Since about the beginning of week 3 after the incident he has gone from being sort of normal self (mentally), to this really angry, critical, moody, snappy being and the family is treading on egg shells at home which makes it so uncomfortable for everyone.

My real problem is, is that if you ask him how he is, he tells you he is fine and just will not admit to anything being wrong mentally since he's had the heart attack. As a result it is totally impossible to talk to him or have any form of sane, normal, relaxed conversation. It is so upsetting.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am fully aware that the mental the physical are so entwined in life, but I cannot get him to see that.

Any help gratefully received. Thank you

He might want to shield his family from anxiety.

He's had a big scare and that could put anyone in a bad place mentally. It was very recent and remember time is a good healer.

Does he have friends that he might open up to?
