My daughter has been taking 20mg of Fluoxetine for exactly a month now for depression and although the worst of the side effects have subsided she is yet to see any benefits. She says that the 'fog' of the depression is still there and she thinks it feels worse some days. Can other's please share their experiences of how long this drug took to work for them.

Thank you

My daughter found it helped more with anxiety than depression (she had both) and it started making a very noticeable difference to the anxiety after about a month.
The psychiatrist has added (and taken away) various other drugs over the years for the depression.
I'm assuming if she is 16 it was prescribed by a CAMHS psychiatrist and that she is seeing the psychiatrist fairly regularly - she should tell the psychiatrist how she feels at the next appointment.

None of them really make a difference that fast. For me it took 3 months before I started noticing that I felt a little lighter.

I think it's normally a good 6 weeks
