Mirtazapine and weight support thread

Hello, but of background: I've been on mirtazapine in the past and gained tonnes of weight. Quite frankly I didn't care it kept me alive. However my MH has taken a nose dive and in over two years no meds have helped in any way close to mirtazapine.
So... I'm going to ask to restart it, my GP is on board but knows my concerns re weight, so I wondered if anyone fancied a weight loss/maintenance group? To share tips and motivation.
The hunger is insane but I'm going to give it three months and aim to at least maintain in that time (my BMI is already 25). It was 17 when I first went on them. But normal for me is BMI 21-23. I'd love it if we could get a good thread going, it would certainly make the world of difference for me. Unmmsnetty kisses xx

I’m in!
I started on mirtazapine in Dec after I hit rock bottom and I have no doubt it’s saved my life but I’m struggling with the weight gain. X

Hi shadow!! From a mood perspective they're marvellous aren't they? But the weight gain is a rubbish side effect. Are you wanting to lose or maintain? What dose are you on?

Hello Smile
I’m on 45mg and have gained 7kg in the last few months so ideally I’d like to lose it.
I’ve noticed that the gain is a lot slower now so I’m hoping it will tail off and I might be able to lose some of it again.

Fingers crossed that the Weight gain slows for you, I'm just at the doctors waiting room now, anxiety is off the chart!!

How did you get on at the docs? X

Hi shadow, I'm now on 15mg mirtazapine. As predicted my appetite is off the scale! I'm going to weigh this morning and give myself a month to see if I can maintain/lose while on them. How are you doing? Xxx
