I have enrolled for a short course, I have complex PTSD, severe anxiety and agoraphobia, how am i going to do it! I am panicking about it already and it doesn't start for 4 weeks. College is 8miles away and it's 1 morning a week.

What’s the course in?

Mrsdarcyiwish10 · 05/02/2019 20:42

Hi, it's introduction to counselling.

Is there any way that in the 4 weeks before it starts you could build up to going like practicing going there and seeing where the class will be held so that there will be less unfamiliar things when you start?

Also, if you really don’t feel able to do it you shouldn’t force yourself! We all do impulsive things! (Me more than most!) Grin

Thanks ellalovescakes, it was an oh my god I did it, I will have to try and build up to if and if i can't I will have to cancel, I know I am impulsive sometimes too.i just need to feel like I'm doing something with my life.

It would be good to try to get there. I second the idea of practicing going before the course starts. Plus plan a treat for yourself after each training session.

wizzywig · 06/02/2019 08:34

Op are you in therapy/ undergoing treatment already? The course may opem up wounds and you could need support

LittleLongDog · 06/02/2019 08:35

Sounds like a great thing to try!

I think practicing going in and rewarding yourself after is a good idea. Then when you’ve done that try to completely put it out of your mind for the rest of the days if the week: tell yourself you’re done, completed and can tick the box!

Well done you! I have wanted to do that course for a while, but I haven’t quite managed to get myself to do it ☹️

Mrsdarcyiwish10 · 06/02/2019 12:28

Thank you everyone, I am going to try building up to do it, if not I will not kick myself but try again, I have finished counselling and my counsellor knows my course choice, Rose 68, if I can do it you can too, it just takes time and at your own speed.

What are you going to do? You're going to get up, get to college and go to your class.

Why not?

Mrsdarcyiwish10 · 06/02/2019 16:34

Prism, that made me smile, thank you
