Hi am surfing with really bad health anxiety. Just wondering did any one else get physical symptoms from it. I have had a tension headache for months . Had test and scans and eye test all came back fine all the doctors I see say it is tension from stress and anxiety. It's there all day every day which makes me worry about it constantly. My eyes have become sensitive to light and some times my vision is odd. I feel sick all the time and have an upset tummy. Can all these things be from anxiety? Does anyone else get them or get physical ill from stress and anxiety. I am on sertraline now almost 6 weeks in so still early days and have started CBT but again still early days. Thanks for reading x

Hi,
In my experience anxiety can definitely make you feel really ill to the point where you think there must be something physically wrong because it can't possibly just be anxiety and depression! I get loads of symptoms like feeling sick, stomach pains, muscle tension, weird dizziness, feeling shaky, feeling hot.... The list goes on. Hopefully in time the sertraline will help alongside the cbt. In the meantime, try to take your mind off things by keeping busy and doing things you enjoy. I find the more you focus on your symptoms, the worse they get.

I have a lot of physical symptoms and unfortunately the more you think about them the worse they get. I take venlafaxine and I’m also trying cbt at the moment. Feel free to message me anytime even just for a distraction

I have also had physical symptoms of anxiety - I particularly see a connection with IBS and my anxiety - esp. diarrhea. Also tension headaches and, my least favourite, chattering teeth when I've been at my absolute worse. I think body and mind are very closely connected.

Oh yes. Headaches, pains in the neck and shoulders, sometimes vomiting, teeth grating, it triggered my heart arrhythmia...because I was not sleeping properly and it turned into a vicious circle, pain and overthinking stuff, then not sleeping, which led to more fatigue and pain.

Yes it all stems from anxiety..You've had all the tests so you know there isn't any underlying causes.I would advise you to get a book titled Dare ( you can also download the free app) those physical symptoms can be so frightening and yes they are real but it all comes from muscle tension ...Also have a look at progressive muscle relaxation videos ...there's a lot of good videos on YouTube and they definitely help.Wishing you all the bestFlowers

I also get a lot of physical symptoms from anxiety. Dizziness, nausea, burping, upset tummy, tingling/cold hands, palpitations.
Anxiety is horrible and it feeds off itself; the physical symptoms cause the thoughts that cause more symptoms. I try and repeat to myself that I’ve felt these symptoms before and been okay, they are coming from anxiety and can’t hurt me.
