Citalopram

2 weeks ago I was prescribed 20mg citalopram for anxiety. No problems in first week. This week I've been bed bound with severe diarrhoea (every 20 minutes) and occasional vomiting. I've barely eaten anything in days.

Does this sound like a side affect or more likely a standard winter tummy bug/food poisoning?

Poor you.

I was on 40mg for a year. Your symptoms aren't on the list of side effects but Googling brings up serotonin syndrome, which can come from taking citalopram and has severe diarrhoea as a symptom.

Not remotely a medical expert but I think you should get further advice.
