Hi al , I’ve been taking Sertraline for two weeks , this is my thrid week. I have had any really bad Side effects . I had even started to think that my mood was starting to lift a bit and my anxiety had had the edge taken off it a little . Apart from Saturday. I woke up on the morning and felt very anxious my hert fleet like it was racing . I had a general overall bad day, al that had to be done was a tidy up and the Christmas tree put up, que lots of shouting between the children, between my wife and the children , between me and the children and between me and my wife , all I wanted to do was lay on the bed and try to rest and calm my heart rate down . It ended up with me waking out of the house at 8:00pm and going for a walk in the wind, rain and cold. I got back at about 9:30. Wet and cold . I’ve not been able to eat all weekend . Yesterday was better and I sent the day resting and Everton’s kept protruding much out of my way . So it was a lot calmer . But I still had a racing hert. I didn’t feel so anxious yesterday but I had bouts of it. I was able to sleep in the day a bit.
Could the racing hert be a side effect of the tablets ? I’m back at the doctors this Thursday so I’m going to be speaking to her about it . I had been getting on quite well with them , just wondered if anyone else has had this while taking these tablets .
Thanks

I haven’t taken sertraline, but I did take citalopram for anxiety and they’re from the same group.

I found that the physical symptoms of my anxiety escalated massively for the first week or so, including a racing heart. My doctor prescribed diazepam to cope while the tablets settled in, and then later propanalol when I couldn’t continue with citalopram.

Go back to the doctor, they should be able to give you something to help.
