Crippling anxiety

Crippling anxiety.
Had a close family member in hospital and I think the worry, lack of sleep and stress has triggered my anxiety.
He’s out and has a fairly good prognosis so thought I’d be feeling better now, but no.
Not had it like this for about 5 years.
I can’t stop sighing and huffing and puffing as I feel so so bad.
There’s a knot in my stomach. Like I feel guilty and have a feeling of dread.
I can’t eat or sleep, getting about 2 hours a night and cannot face leaving the house and having to talk to people.
My heart keeps pumping so loud I can see and hear it in my chest.
I can’t concentrate and my head is full of cotton wool.
Phoned in sick for work this week as I can’t face it.
I’ve tried to talk to a couple of ppl but they don’t get it.
They keep saying family member is home now so I should relax, but I can’t. I really can’t.

Friend was ok. She suffers from post natal depression so she kind of gets it.
I need to sort it out.
Sat waiting for my daughter just shaking as I feel awful.

Sending bags of empathy to everyone on here. I can feel my anxiety rising atm as got builders in & am heavily pregnant. Got that knot in my stomach & pounding chest thing & mind racing with worries about getting everything done in time & whether I can cope with it all... hoping it passes for us all soon!

Can you go to your GP tomorrow? Ask about propanalol if you don’t like the idea of antidepressants. I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way Flowers

But then as soon as dusk draws in I start feeling horrendous again.
This really resonates with me. Evenings are so bad - why??

Take care with diazepam, check with your doctor but you can get reflex anxiety - i.e. it can make your anxiety much much worse the next day.

Hi OP I totally get how you feel it’s horrendous, I have been off sick for a month now due to crippling anxiety, like you it has been building slowly until I realised that I was unable to do the most basic of tasks. I have been on sertraline and going for weekly counselling they are both slowly helping, please go to your GP for help. I wish I had done it years ago.
