Political anxiety

Tell me if you relate to this.

Whenever things are getting heated politically - eg at the moment the PM is about to get her Brexit deal voted down, hard Brexit is meant to be coming - I find I cannot control my anxiety.

I'm not particularly anxious normally, but politics sets it off. I find it harder to sleep, I wake up with my mind racing, I'm worse at work, I feel shaky inside, I can't always control my reactions. It isn't the politics that keeps me awake, it's day-to-day work worries - but they don't affect me unless I'm also worried about politics!

Is this weird? What is going on? Why can I control everything else (I sleep great for example) but it spills out when something like Trump getting elected happens?
