Anxiety meds

Just posted in a 'medication for anxiety' thread but not sure if it will be seen as it's not current.

I've posted about this before but didn't get much response. I've been doing lots of googling and I think I've decided that I'm definitely giong to ask my Dr for Pregabalin for my relentless anxiety.

Any experiences?

Is it still preposterously expensive in the and are Drs still reluctant to prescribe it long term.

Is it the wonder drug for anxiety it's hyped to be????

Experiences please fellow fretters.

'in the UK' not 'in the and' (because that doesn't make any sense!)

I was on it for couple of years. It worked very well. Side effects were weight gain, tiredness ( I needed a nap everyday) and I was rather dopey.

I stopped taking it and interestingly anxiety hasn't come back.

Thanks Vicious

I've heard good things about it and have high hopes that it's going to do the trick.

I'm just hoping the Dr is on board because apparently it's mega pricey. I was even going to suggest to him that I pay myself.

I've spoken to leads of people (and read online) that ssris and old ADs aren't very effective for anxiety and so I just want to try something that I think is going to work from the outset. I have a stressful job that requires me to be on the ball so need to have it together.

If you don't mind me asking, how bad was your anxiety beforehand?

Thanks again.

My anxiety was extreme caused by the work situation. I had some sort of breakdown. I ended up on high dose, 600mg.
Now I am not working and I am not anxious.

I had some cheaper version of pregabalin. My psychiatrist changed and the new one wanted me off it straight away. But I did hang on it for a while but the tiredness was too much and I decided come off it.
