My new psychologist is going to do it for me. She is also doing Schmea therapy for my childhood trauma.

Watching with interest. This was suggested to me after my son died in horrific circumstances.
I am still just about coping on a day to day basis but don't feel strong enough to try anything yet.
I hope it helps you OP.

I have never tried EMDR, but I do hear good things.

I am a therapist and I use EFT, which is very powerful. You find the root cause of the problem and dig it out. It works with the subconscious.

The biggest step with any therapy is making the decision to resolve it. You can actually see a therapist to work on the "fear of resolving the issue" before you decide to tackle it.

I've had some great results from just that, best of luck on your journey xx

I had a bit of it, although not for anything as bad as PTSD.

I think you need to ensure the person doing it is very well qualified - I guess that goes without saying, but seeing as people can set themselves up as counsellors without any accreditation you can't be too careful.

I was unable to do it with my eyes open, so instead they tapped on the back of my hands. I was a bit sceptical but I actually experienced an incredible calmness from it. I had to wait for a while afterwards before I was able to drive. It did appear to reduce the level of emotion and distress I was feeling in relation to the trauma I was dealing with.
