Health anxiety - how can I cope?

Just looking for a little hand holding.
I have very bad health anxiety. I can go months and be ok, but then I am triggered and my thoughts go spiralling out of control. It can be quite crippling.
I have been ill for three weeks with stomach pains, diarrhoea and feeling generally awful. Of course you can guess what kind of things Google brought up, I won't even go there! Blood tests did show low white cell count which can indicate and infection of some kind. My doctor did an examination, even humoured me with tumour marker and inflammation tests (all fine).
I have decided to go back to a psychologist but will have to wait for the referral from GP (who always seems bemused when she sees me) and the long wait for an appointment.
I was just wondering day to day, how people cope with anxiety? It comes in waves with me and I feel sick, clammy, tired out, teary, fearful and my brain jumps to all the worst possible conclusions. This has happened already twice this year to me before this stomach infection, a lump in my leg and a throat infection and both times it got to the point the anxiety was taking over my life as I self-diagnosed with different types of cancer.
I feel at the moment that the stomach bug dragging on has been mixed with my anxiety making me feel worse.
One reason I think this is that I was sent to the GP to the hospital as I was in such a state, but after an examination and repeat blood tests came back showing I was slightly improved I started to feel better physically too and began eating etc.
I don't know where the physical illness ends and mental illness starts.
Any advice would be really really helpful.
Thank you so much
