Citalopram or propranolol

I went to see doctor yesterday for the first time about anxiety. I've always suffered, pretty badly in my early twenties. I started exercising and it was life changing. I felt great during pregnancy and after when I was still exercising. I'm back at work now and have had a rough few months with my daughter. It's been a constant cycle of colds teething etc... every time she gets ill I catch it because I'm run down not being healthy and can't sleep even when she is. I try and get back to gym but it's been constant set backs. Doc has prescribed above two medicines. I'm nervous about side effects and not being able to get off them. Anyone have experience of just using propranol to combat physical effects? I feel like if I can just catch up on my sleep and get back to normal I could get myself back on track.

Neither are addictive. I didn't like Citalopram but I'm a freak who can't tolerate any SSRIs. Propranolol is a miracle drug imo. Its like this wave of enforced calm and you can think clearly again.
