Picturing Terrifying Monsters/Images.

Sorry for the long read. - Hopefully it's an interesting one.

On occasion my brain likes to make me picture some of the most disturbing monsters/images it can come up with, it can happen at any time, night or day. -- (I live alone which might be a major factor)

It's almost always something my brain comes up with, like a floating head that can go through walls, and see me through walls, etc.

One of the worst moments was a few years ago I had to get ready to leave one morning, but my imagination was telling me there's something outside my bedroom door, and it frightened me so much I couldn't leave for a good extra half an hour.

Coming up second would be the time I kept picturing there was a big-headed, big-eyed sort of human abomination that would constantly be peeking over the plate of glass above the Bathroom door whilst I was taking a shower. -- Which again terrified me.

Sometimes it can be influenced by random images online.

Recently there has been a creepy edited picture of Barack Obama, with wide eyes, close together eyes, etc, popping up around randomly in some compilations and memes online, which is supposed to be funny, but something about it just creeps me out and hits that vulnerable spot in my imagination.

(I know it sounds silly, but if you want to check it out for yourself, I'm sure you'll find the one I'm talking about.)

Overall, even without influence from random triggers of images online, etc, this can still happen to me, and I'm wondering if it's attached to any sort of mental illness or condition.

If you have any sort of answers or even comments, let me know, I'm mainly here to see what everyone else has to say about it.

Didn't want to read and run. I do have a view on what this is, but I'll pm you later if that's ok?
